Modern meat

Most readers of this blog already know that I love animals. They also know that I have changed most of my eating habits during the last 6 years because of this. It’s not because I expect anyone to do the same that I write this.
I recently discovered, thanks to a friend, the existence of internet hunting:

California Bill To Outlaw Internet Hunting Goes to Governor
I am not against hunting. I imagine there are still remote areas left to nature and populated by hunters that must kill animals in order to survive.
I, on the other hand, am in a position to choose from numerous pre-wrapped provisions imported from across the world for a mere five dollar bill. And although I have grown accustomed to having the opportunity to choose from so many different options in so many different areas of modern living, I am also growing a sharp refusal for anything superfluous.
Who is that lazy? Who feels the need to kill an animal from an office desk or kill an animal, by the click of a mouse? Internet hunting is a computer game using actual lives, not the kind that can be won back.
This really breaks my heart and makes me appreciate people who know the value of living through effort that much more.
I recently discovered, thanks to a friend, the existence of internet hunting:
An Internet hunting site sets up rifles near waterholes or wildlife feeders and connects them to video cameras that allow cyberspace "hunters" to watch their computer screen until they spot a target. The "hunter" then uses their computer to line up the rifle and fire a shot.

New moon

the waterfront will disappear
under a flight of stairs
your body stretched to the boards
like a bread-and-butter letter
earnest will walk up your spine
from the tip of her scissor heels
pulling you from your part
if the heart is where you bury
your metal airplanes
your days of old
under a flight of stairs
your body stretched to the boards
like a bread-and-butter letter
earnest will walk up your spine
from the tip of her scissor heels
pulling you from your part
if the heart is where you bury
your metal airplanes
