I don’t know where to start. Jeff Buckley. Jeff. Buckley. I keep typing and erasing. The only thing I can stick to is the fact that I want others to discover his work.

The first time I heard Jeff Buckley and was introduced by name was in Sacramento. We were parked in the alley in Jim’s van. David and I were about to step out when Jim pulled us back in with the line that has launched so many stories, “Listen to this.” He put the CD in saying that it was a cover but such a chilling one that it needed to be heard. I didn’t understand right away why Jim was so passionate about it. Months later, another friend dropped his name and suggested listening to the Grace double disc legacy album. It slept in my closet through winter. Spring came around and I felt open to it and was surprised to hear what this album was made of. But it’s only weeks later that I got it.

You know what I would have asked Jeff if I had met him? I would have asked him about the watch. “Jeff, why do you wear that thing? I wish you would take it off.”
